Architectural Photography
Wednesdays, October 23 - December 11 *no class November 27

Location: Cooney Hall 229/Field Trips
Instructor: Meg McKinney
Discover architectural photography, exteriors, interiors, with technical challenges of composition, distortion, lighting. Assignments to emphasize designs, styles, eras, on-location problem solving. Field trips: 3 - all-day, out of town; 1 – half-day near Birmingham. Dates, times TBD at first class. Admission fees: $30 total approx. Field trips are not required but offer excellent photography experiences.
Prerequisite: Understanding Your Canon/Nikon/Sony; Photography I
Equipment Required: DSLR or mirrorless, lenses, tripod, thumb drive to present images in class – or upload to a class drive. Google account, to submit images for class.
*Student must be high school graduate or have GED. We will be going on field trips; photographing locations with historic, cultural significance; meeting guides, location representatives, therefore students must conduct themselves accordingly. No tag-along’s permitted, such as family or friends, unless student has a disability and needs assistance, and kindly discuss with instructor prior to field trip.
* Please note: no refunds will be given for cancellations made after 7 business days prior to the start of class.
* $30 credit card processing fee for all cancellations
Directions from I-65:
Take exit 255, Lakeshore Drive. From the north, turn left; from the south, turn right. Continue on Lakeshore Drive for 2 miles, and turn left into Samford University’s main gate. Then take the first right and go past Propst Hall. Go through 2 stop signs. Cooney Hall will be on your left. Park in any available space.
Directions from US-31 and US-280:
Exit onto Lakeshore Drive, going west. Continue on Lakeshore, and turn right into Samford University’s main gate. Then take the first right and go past Propst Hall. Go through 2 stop signs. Cooney Hall will be on your left. Park in any available space.
