Relief printmaking dates back centuries, and with the invention of modern printing techniques, is no longer a necessity, but a skill that is slowly being forgotten. This type of printmaking is a reductive process that combines designing, drawing, and carving; the perfect combination of 2D and 3D art. The creation of a “block” allows the artist to create multiples of their final image. Printmaking is, as the 3-dimensional carving produces a 2-dimensional “print”.
